On March 26th, President Barack Obama had signed the Agricultural Appropriations Bill into law. In this bill, there was a small provision that says GMO manufacturers, such as Monsanto, can avoid any punishment if there were health consequences from their products. While the bill is only set to last six months, it sends a clear message: protecting corporations is more important that the health of constituents of a nation.
We, as constituents of the United States of America have the right to not only know what is in our food, but have the right to demand what should be allowed in it. We deserve protection if something goes wrong due a dangerous product, especially whose health effects have yet to be researched. I am outraged that President Barack Obama doesn't agree with this sentiment, and I demand he rethink his actions before it's too late.
