Give the world's poorest a voice in the fight against poverty

    1. Sponsored by

      ONE

This spring, the UN is working to make a global plan to end extreme poverty by 2030. This is an important plan that will affect the livelihoods, the health, and the futures of millions of the world’s poorest people. But right now, those people are not involved in that agenda-setting process. ONE believes that the path to ending extreme poverty must be one that factors in the voices of those actually living in extreme poverty.

Sign our global petition urging world leaders to make sure the plan to end extreme poverty is specific, measurable & accountable.

To:
Prime Minister Cameron, President Johnson-Sirleaf, and President Yudhoyono
As you create a plan to end extreme poverty, please ensure it reflects the views of the world's most vulnerable people and that it's goals are specific, measurable and accountable.

Sincerely,
[Your name]

As a Christian Aid supporter I am aware of how imposed solutions to other people's problems do not always work, either because they are not acceptable to the local population or because they are not the best solution for local conditions. Those who know best what will work are those who live in poverty. They MUST be consulted through local and regional bodies in each country. Any proposals from the big governments of the developed world must be reviewed by local people, and not just local politicians who may have biased views.

People loving in poverty know exactly what they need to live better lives. They just need space to practice their own agency.
