Equal Pay for Vermont Women: Stand with Vermont’s working women and add your name today!

    1. Petition by

      Vermont Democratic Party

Even in 2013, after years of progress and national legislation like the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the wage gap still exists. Women make up 50% of the workforce, yet on average for every one dollar that a working Vermont man makes, a working Vermont woman makes 84 cents. That is unacceptable. We’re better than that.

Yesterday, the Vermont State House passed H.99. By a 115 to 22 vote, H.99, a bill that ensures equal pay for women, was passed and will go to the Senate next. We thank our legislators for for putting their votes behind this critical issue.

By signing this petition, you are joining the voices of Vermonters in calling out for long overdue change. Stand with Vermont’s working women and add your name today.

      Together, Women Are Strong

If we're by ourselves we come to feel crazy and alone. We need to make alternate families of small groups of women who support each other, talk to each other regularly, can speak their truths and their experiences and find they're not alone in them, that other women have them, too…. It makes such a huge difference.

      -- Gloria Steinem

Sisters: talk to each other, be connected and informed, form women's circles, share your stories, work together, and take risks. Together we are invincible.

      -- Isabel Allende

I have three daughters, all bright and work hard, many times more so than many men I know and some that have worked for me. They deserve equal pay.

Let's be in front on this. It's ridiculous that it still needs to be addressed but let's tackle it.
