agree to avoid 'pimps and hoes' theme nights and other similar themes

Themes which glamourise or make light of the abusive and oppressive practise of prostitution only serve to desensitise us to such issues and the lives of the people involved.

It also encourages the sexualisation of women and normalises girls dressing in a way that objectifies them.

This is so degrading and misogynistic.

The clubbing industry has changed it's vision, from starting as a way for groups of people to enjoy music together to now being about wearing the shortest clothes and seeing who you can pick up. Prostitution is not something to be appraised, nor is it something to be seen as glamorous or enticing. It is oppressing and dangerous and we as students should not be celebrating the industry.

Because I believe my friend (Bethan) is fighting for a worthy cause. Plus, there are so many issues in the world to do with 'pimps and hoes' (which phrases I find gross) I don't think nightclubs should make a night out and money off a real issue.

Besides the argument about objectifiation - surely as students we have the capacity to be more inventive regarding our nights out than focusing on the usual sexualization of actual quite tragic and serious situations. It's such a contradiction.
