Xavier University's health insurance policy has always enabled women to access contraception and other basic healthcare necessities. Until now.
On April 2nd, Xavier University President Fr. Michael Graham announced that the University's health insurance policy will "no longer cover sterilizations and contraceptives," therefore leaving countless female faculty and staff unable to access basic healthcare under their current insurance plans.
Xavier has never before had a problem with allowing women to access contraception, despite opposing Catholic doctrine. And yet, when the national political dialogue persistently tramples on a woman's right to make her own healthcare decisions, Xavier follows suit.
Xavier teaches its students to be "men and women for others," but Xavier's policy change is nothing more than playing politics with the lives and health of women.
Sign the petition now and urge Fr. Graham and the Xavier University Board of Trustees to live out the Jesuit mission of being men and women for others and not succumb to polarizing, politicized attacks on women.
Your message will be sent directly to Fr. Graham.
