    2. Anniversary Project & Petition to Parliament

The MJC gratefully thanks all of its wonderful supporters! It is staging a Free concert (with Craig Fermanis Trio & Daniel Gassin Sextet) in the City Square on Friday, January 25th, at noon, and a ticketed concert (with Barney McAll, Paul Grabowsky, Andrea Keller, Allan Browne, Julien Wilson, Tamara Murphy, Jonathan Zwartz and Frank DiSario) at The Edge, Fed Square, on Sunday, 27th, 2 pm ($30/$20 con./$10 Children & MJC Member discounts)to celebrate its 30th. Anniversary. It is also collecting signatures for a hard copy petition to Parliament, available at venues and some music stores. Tax-deductible donation facility and memberships now available at www.mjc.org.au. Jazz musicians are used to dealing with adversity and improvising solutions: the MJC will prevail and continue to stay relevant long after this negative, conservative (and ignorant) Government is consigned to history.

MJC 30th Anniversary Concert - Melbourne Jazz Co-operative

It marks the exact 30th Anniversary of the MJC's first concert presentation (the Browne-Costello-Grabowsky Trio and Odwala at RMIT Glasshouse Theatre on Sunday afternoon, January 30, 1983).

MJC is a vital hub for artists, both emerging and experienced, to create and perform. To cut MJC's funding would be a terrible blow to a key organisation actively shaping the Melbourne jazz scene into the nations best.

As a jazz fan and performer, I am aghast that the government does not value the fantastic Melbourne jazz scene.
