Raise the Minimum Wage

    1. Petition by

      Town School for Boys

Raising the minimum wage is important because people that go to work everyday should be able to afford things they need. We want to make minimum wage higher then it is right now, because people who are living in minimum wage can’t afford lots of things and a lot of the people who work for minimum wage are in debt. We want to get this approved because the minimum wage is supposed to be a sustainable wage that you can live on.

Right now the minimum wage is a guideline to see how little you can pay someone. Minimum wage is hurting the poor. For example, if a person living at minimum wage gets hurt really badly they can pay up to 1,000 dollars on a Hospital or ER bill. So why don’t you put yourself into their shoes ,and think what it will be like living month to month accumulating debt, like people working at minimum wage.

There are about 46.2 million people in the U.S that are living in poverty and this could help. The federal minimum wage is $ 7.25. We the Town School Boys from 5th grade personally think that it should be higher. We have run the numbers!! So we hope you can sign our petition, so people who don’t have that much money can get some money today.
SO SIGN THIS PETITION TODAY!!!!

There are many working people who are living below the poverty line and some none working people who are not..doesn't seem fair really. We should all have the right to fair pay for a days work and the ability to provide for our families.

The prices of food and other necessities are going up, so people have to resort to giving up certain things or sometimes going without in order to keep their head above water.

Not because minimum wage earners, by spending, funnel the largest portion of their earnings directly back into the economy; thus benefiting a tide that raises all ships. Not because it will make the working poor less dependent upon govt and other social assistance. Not because we are a crazy rich country with wealth distribution that approaches only that of the most undeveloped societies. But because, as Dolly Gallagher Levi says, in Thornton Wilder's, The Matchmaker: "The difference between a little money and no money at all is enormous."

So that the working poor can make a life for themselves.
