Tell Your Representatives: Don't Cut Lifesaving Aid for Syrian Refugees

    1. Sponsored by

      Mercy Corps

Right now, the House of Representatives and the Senate are making decisions on how much money will be spent on foreign aid in the coming year – including lifesaving humanitarian assistance programs for Syrian refugees and some of the world's most vulnerable populations.

More people around the world are displaced by conflict now than at any other time in the last 18 years — including nearly 7 million affected by Syria's ongoing civil war. But despite that, the House of Representatives proposes slashing 40% from last year’s spending for internally displaced people and 29% for refugees.

Fight for Syrian refugees — tell your Representative to save humanitarian aid.

      * While every refugee's story is different and their anguish personal, they all share a common thread of uncommon courage – the courage not only to survive, but to persevere and rebuild their shattered lives. ~ Antonio Guterres, U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees

      * " the midst of migrants in search of a better life there are people in need of protection: refugees and asylum-seekers, women and children victims of trafficking...Many move simply to avoid dying of hunger. When leaving is not an option but a necessity, this is more than poverty."

We live in one, shared world, and we can take billions from our military to fund truly humane, compassionate activities in the world, such as alleviating the suffering that the Syrians are experiencing.
