Tell Congress to Keep Money in the Budget for the World's Hungry

Hunger is the number one health problem in the world, affecting nearly 1 billion people and leading to a needless 3.5 million deaths each year. Many of those deaths are of children, whose parents simply cannot afford to feed them. With one tenth of one percent of the entire U.S. national budget, Americans provide lifesaving resources for the world’s poorest and hungriest people.

But now, with the U.S. government in a budget crunch, Congress is considering returning federal funding to 2008 levels. That would mean cutting hundreds of millions of dollars from global hunger programs. These cuts would provide little payoff for the American people, and would come with great consequences for the hungriest around the world.

Stand up for the world's bottom billion and tell your members of Congress that you want to save global hunger programs!  Your voice on this issue is needed more than ever to ensure that the U.S. plays its part in supporting the world's hungry.

Late on Friday night, the key House of Representatives committee in charge of funding for federal programs announced a plan to cut spending on global hunger programs by $800 million – $300 million more than we first expected!

These cuts would take food assistance away from more than 18 million of the world’s poorest and hungriest people – including 2.5 million children who count on a meal at school every day.

House is going to vote on the budget proposal this week - please spread the word about this petition so our representatives know how we and thousands of others feel about these dangerous cuts!

I believe there is good in everyone. You MUST want to help right? Money is not everything, we all know this is true, is the destruction and death worth it? Every moment is the perfect moment to make a difference. You can still be the hero!

By threatening to cut this life saving aid, Congress is showing its priorities. It would be unthinkable for America's super rich to do without their caviar, foie gras, Louis XIII cognac, or beach homes on the Riviera!

      Congressional Republicans:

Stop hacking the budgets of every program that feeds, houses, and cares for the health of people- especially WOMEN AND CHILDREN! All of you who pretend to be "pro-life"- unless you're only pro-fetus, get your morals in line with your rhetoric.

Or, prove- for the countless time- that you do not give a damn about EXISTING people (esp. brown ones, females, non-Christians). And just admit you prefer UNBORN people, because they cannot think for themselves, and thus can be under your control.
