Senator Harry Reid: Filibuster Reform

We, the undersigned, are in agreement that filibuster reform needs to be the first order of business on day one 2013. We agree that the filibuster as it stands today and the use of such filibuster has hampered the ability of our government to work effectively. The rules for filibustering MUST change.

To all Senators who will serve in the 113th Congress:
Please reform the filibuster so that if Senators want to filibuster, they should be required to stand on the floor and make their case to the American people with a real, talking filibuster. The talk should be confined to the delineation of the reasons of concern or focus of the filibuster (no extraneous readings or off topic speech). Retain the requirement of a 41 Senator filibuster support vote with the requirement that the 41 supporting Senators be physically present throughout the duration of the filibuster.

Senator Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader
U.S. Senate

We voted for President Obama, the GOP is only sabotaging economy and stopping common sense reform. Harry Reid what are you waiting for? If GOP gets the senate and the house, they will use nuclear option and will not honor any agreement? Pass legislation to cement Democratic rule, if not ineffective leadership will allow GOP to stop legislation on anything President Obama wants to pass, therefore allowing GOP politics to destroy our country.

Because the Congress has changed the original format for a filibuster. It needs to go back to the original law set in the 1940's
