Saudi Arabia Authorities: Do not execute Shi'a cleric Ayatollah Nimr Baqr al-Nimr and free him at once !

Away from daylight, away from his family and away from justice. Ayatollah Nimr awaits in captivity for the day he will be executed for no crime whatsoever. His sister says he has been denied medical care. This happens under the eyes of the international community.

We are shocked very much observing the silence and lack of action from the international community regarding the situation in Saudi Arabia. These people who are from regions like Qatif in Saudi Arabia are barred from their inalienable right to religious and political dissent. There are thousands of political prisoners in the Saudi dungeons who expect people like yourself to react and stand up for the one thing which all of us share, the unbreakable bond of humanity.

To this religious and political discrimination came a man who wanted to help, represent and give a voice to his people. Ayatollah Nimr Al-Nimr was shot and arrested and is currently in prison and being denied medical care since last year. Prosecutors are now pushing for the execution of this man on these political and religious grounds.

Will you as a human of values allow this to happen? We have a firm belief humanity has not died yet and know you will do the right thing. Your conscience calls you, act by signing and sharing before its too late. Our message to Saudi Arabia, release Ayatollah Nimr immediately !

Scores of Saudis took the streets of Buraydah on Tuesday despite a regime ban on public gatherings to express solidarity with political prisoners.

They also called for the immediate release of the 23-year-old political activist, Hood al-Aqil, who was arrested in March after Saudi forces raided his house in the city.

Activists say there are over 40,000 political prisoners, mostly prisoners of conscience, in jails across the kingdom.

According to the activists, most of the detained political thinkers are being held by Al Saud regime without trial or legitimate charges and that they were arrested for merely looking suspicious.

Some of the detainees are reported to be held without trial for more than 16 years. Attempting to incite the public against the government and the allegiance to foreign entities are usually the ready-made charges against dissidents.

In Saudi Arabia, protests and political gatherings of any kind are prohibited.

Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi’s remarks came after a Saudi prosecutor called for the execution of Sheikh al-Nimr.

“They (Saudi authorities) have arrested a number of senior Shiite figures and even a prosecutor has demanded the execution for one of them who is a renowned scholar called Sheikh al-Nimr,” Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said.

“We will not keep silent on the demand for the execution of Sheikh al-Nimr,” he added.

In similar remarks last week, two Iranian lawmakers condemned the Al Saud regime for prolonged imprisonment of prominent Shiite cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, who has been in jail for several months for calling for the freedom of political prisoners in the Arab country.

“The Saudi judiciary system is attempting by all means to protect the decrepit rule of Al Saud against possible threats,” member of the
Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mansour Haqiqatpour said.

Anti-regime protesters have again taken to the streets in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province to demand the release of senior Shia cleric Nimr al-Nimr.

The protesters defied a protest ban imposed by the Al Saud regime and demonstrated in the eastern city of Qatif on Thursday to voice their solidarity with the jailed cleric and demand his release.

On March 28, a Saudi prosecutor reportedly demanded the death penalty for Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, accusing him of “aiding terrorists” and “instigating unrest” in the kingdom.

Sheikh Nimr was attacked, injured and arrested by Saudi security forces en route to his house in Qatif on July 8, 2012.

The cleric had called for the release of all those detained in protests against the Saudi regime, and all the prisoners of conscience. His arrest sparked protests in Eastern Province.

According to Saudi activists, most of the detained political activists are being held by the regime without trial or charges.

      Petition Organizer

Saudi Arabia has imposed a travel ban on three Shia clerics and a human rights activist as it continues to clamp down on the critics of the Al Saud regime. The Interior Ministry on Sunday barred Sheikh Mohammed al-Obeidan, Sheikh Heidar al-Saeed, and Taher al-Shamimi as well as human rights activist Sadek al-Ramadan from leaving the kingdom. The three clerics are from different cities in the country’s Eastern Province. The fourth individual is the co-founder and secretary general of al-Adala Center for Human Rights. According to Human Rights Watch, the Riyadh regime “routinely represses expression critical of the government.”Moreover, Saudi activists say most of the political activists in Saudi prisons are being held by the regime without trial or charges. Since February 2011, demonstrators have held anti-regime protests on an almost regular basis in Saudi Arabia, mainly in Qatif and Awamiya.

      Sayyed Naqawi
      Petition Organizer

A Saudi prosecutor has reportedly demanded the death penalty for prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr, who was arrested last year over calls for the release of political prisoners.

Local media reported on Wednesday that the prosecutor, whose name was not mentioned, accused Nimr of ‘aiding terrorists’ and ‘instigating unrest,’ and called for the execution of the Shia cleric.

Sheikh Nimr was attacked, injured and arrested by Saudi security forces en route to his house in the Qatif region of Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province on July 8, 2012.

The cleric had called for the release of all those detained in protests against the Saudi regime, and all the prisoners of conscience. His arrest sparked protests in Eastern Province.

Nimr appeared in court earlier this week for the first time since July.

His family members said he was badly tortured in jail. Nimr’s sister recently said that prison authorities were denying her brother medical care.

Think of it. We are blessed with technology that would be indescribable to our forefathers. We have the wherewithal, the know-it-all to feed everybody, clothe everybody, and give every human on Earth a chance. We know now what we could never have known before -- that we now have the option for all humanity to make it successfully on this planet in this lifetime. Whether it is to be Utopia or Oblivion will be a touch-and-go relay race right up to the final moment.

      -- R. Buckminster Fuller

Let's be clear. The planet is not in jeopardy. We are in jeopardy. We haven't got the power to destroy the planet - or to save it. But we might have the power to save ourselves.”
