Cease the proposed testing of designer drugs on dogs. This practice is barbaric and serves no purpose except to allow pain and suffering on defenceless animals.

Sincerely,

In my last update I said that Peter Dunne has thrown water on the idea that the LD50 plan will be scrapped.

I apologise for this typo. What I meant to say was that Peter Dunne has thrown water on the plans for the LD50 plan and that those plans would be scrapped.

However, he still leaves the door open for animal testing of these party drugs and that remains unacceptable.

    3. LD50 plan scrapped but testing will still be done on dogs.

Peter Dunne has thrown water on the idea that the LD50 plan of testing on dogs will be scrapped, but has given NO assurances that testing of designer drugs on dogs will be scrapped totally. This petition will continue to run until the NZ Govt withdraws any notion of testing designer/party pills on dogs or any other animal.

Thanks for your continued support and please remember to pass this around to all your friends. Thanks.

No lethal dose test on animals

Testing of party pills on animals remains an option but Associate Health Minister Peter Dunne has ruled out using a "barbaric and disgusting" test where doses of the drug increase until half the test group dies. The lethal dose (LD50) test is banned in Britain and is not recognised by the OECD.

Rather than testing recreational drugs on animals in an effort to make them safe for people, why not educate the people using the drugs to make more sensible choices. This ridiculous LD50 plan is simply enabling people to 'safely' be less responsible and more stupid. I don't see how that can possibly be consider good for society! it most certainly isn't good for the animals subjected to the testing.
