Obama Administration: File Amicus Brief Against Prop 8 & Reassert Unconstitutionality of DOMA

    1. Petition by

      Gay Marriage USA

"We, the people, declare today that the most evident of truths – that all of us are created equal – is the star that guides us still; just as it guided our forebears through Seneca Falls, and Selma, and Stonewall." (President Barack Obama)

Converting Words into Action

In his inaugration speech 1/21/13, President Obama draw attention to the inequality still experienced by LGBT people in the USA. In March 2013, same-sex marriage will come under national spotlight in 2 cases before the US Supreme Court. We urge the Obama Administration to file an amicus brief opposing Proposition 8 and to continue to strongly assert the unconstitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act. Both Prop 8 and DOMA continue to cause significant distress to the lives of millions of LGBT people with the denial of equal marriage rights to same-sex couples. President Obama has a tremendous opportunity to ACT on the beautiful words he expressed on 1/21/13 and we urge his administration to proceed with the aformentioned two actions. Please sign & share this petition to share your VOICE in this request.

I believe all adults should have the same rights in the eyes of the law and government and to not allow gays to exercise their right to marry is a violation of their civil rights.

They deserve the same rights as any male and female marriage.
