From Lisa Logan: Thank you to everyone who signed this petition - because of YOU we are pleased to report the entire rule change including the removal of LEED for Universities has been voted down.
They are still going to be proposing rule changes in the future but for now, and we hope for awhile, LEED Silver will be the standard required by our higher education facilities. BRAVO!
We respectfully request that you do not remove Executive Order 2006-001 State of New Mexico Energy Efficient Green Buildings Standards for the Higher Education Department State Buildings.
The Executive Order, as it exists today, ensures that taxpayers' fund high-performance buildings that deliver quantifiable and most importantly third party verifiable results. This standard allows the taxpayer to receive the optimum in energy efficiency and best green building benefits without an army of full time state employees, architects, engineers and committee members struggling to evaluate each individual's opinion of what is the maximum extent of a possible cost effective green building. The benefits of a LEED validated high performance building includes energy and water efficiency, optimum air quality (reduced allergies/asthma), increased productivity/learning (reduced sick days) and better human functionality (daylighting). LEED was created to guarantee the maximum benefits to both the owners and the occupants.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
