A silver tsunami is quickly approaching the United States: every eight seconds, someone turns 65. For Mainers, the silver tsunami is already here. We are not ready; we need your help.
My mom is part of Maine’s rapidly aging population. It is in her honor that I will be delivering a petition to Senator Collins, and I need your help. My mother recently broke her hip and needed intensive care. If it wasn’t for the incredible support of her home care workers she would have had to move into a nursing home, far away from all our family. But we don’t know how long we will be able to afford this in-home care support. Maine has the second-fastest aging population in the country and many of these families don’t even have the option of in-home care support. I believe we should all have the choice to stay with our families and age at home with dignity and independence. That is why I'm going with a group of other Mainers to deliver a petition to Senator Collins, asking her to support a Senate resolution that calls on Congress to create a care system that makes quality long-term care affordable and accessible.
Will you sign this petition asking Senator Collins to support Senate Res. 128 to call for the creation of a long-term care system?
