Brunswick Street Mall is an iconic landmark in Brisbane. Opening this up to traffic will not increase traders, it will only increase traffic through the suburb.
There are so many other alternatives available to "fix" Fortitude Valley. Just look at some of the great ideas coming from the general public here: http://www.facebook.com/questions/380951415345676/

If you feel re-opening Brunswick Street Mall to traffic is not a good idea, we encourage you to sign this petition!

Urban community would be severely disrupted with the closure of cafes, restaurants, and public meeting spaces not to mention the multiple businesses along the mall. It would also put anyone that's out for the nightlife on any night of the week at more risk of injury from vehicles when making their way between the various venues.

I live in the valley on Alfred street and use the mall and understand the value of the mall to the area as a place where people meet, eat and socialise. Opening the mall to traffic will only create a more dangerous environment for pedestrians during the day and night. With the amount of high density housing going up in the area this is without a doubt the dumbest idea I've heard in recent time.

It's one of the rare places in inner-city Brisbane where pedestrians can escape traffic. Stop the automobile obsession and think about quality of life.

The Valley mall is an institution; it's the heart of the district. It would be extremely disappointing to see traffic driving through the area.

The valley is a hub of enjoyment for people of all ages, we do not need it destroyed by cars going up and down one of the main centers of the valley
