Julia Gillard Prime Minister of Australia, All State and Territory Premiers: SUSPEND Charitable Tax Free Status Churches Opposed to Mandatory Reporting

The Governments have the power to Suspend Charitable Status of any Church, Charity or Organisation that is not complying with Australian Law.
Some Church and Charitable Organisations and their related Tax Free Entities consider themselves to be above the Law in regards to the Protection of Children.

Violent crimes against Children must be reported to the Police.
Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse is required of many Professionals who children may disclose abuse to. In Australia it works to inform a Centre Against Sexual Assault and Child Protection Authorities.
If the Charitable Status is suspended then all Land Taxes, Local Council Rates, Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax are payable by those organisations on ALL of their assets.
This should concentrate the minds of the Boards of Management of these Churches, Charities, Organisations and their related Property Trusts, to ACTUALLY consider complying with Australian Law.
Please sign this Petition and pass it with a Recommendation.

Julia Gillard, Prime Minister
Please SUSPEND the Charitable Tax Free Status of ALL Churches, Charities, Non-Profits and their related Property Trusts that are IN PRACTICE, Opposed to Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse.
The Federal And State Taxes thereby payable from these very wealthy institutions can fund the Royal Commission into Child Abuse and Crimes Against Children.
Yours Sincerely
Helen Dawson

IMHO the issue for the Royal Commission is the Safety of Children.
If someone in a religious order is not prepared to be subject to Mandatory Reporting, then they shouldn't be allowed to work with children.
That is, not in a school, not in a Non-Profit with kids, not running groups, workshops, or anything with unaccompanied children. End of story.

Let them sit in a box in a church all day listening to whatever.

The problem in terms of Catholicism is that the adults see the children as being 'temptation', therefore the child is at fault for the abuse, and therefore the adult can ask for, and receive forgiveess, say a prayer, and go out and do it all over again the next day, guilt free. This is just crazy.

The Priests are prepared to go to jail to protect the 'sanctity of the confessional'.

Choir of dissent off-key on the sanctity of confession

Illustration: Andrew Dyson. WHO says politicians can't sing in unison? This week we have seen the full array of politicians - Green, Labor, Liberal and independent - lining up to dismantle the Catholic Church's institution of sealed confession.

No institution should be above mandatory reporting of a crime. Furthermore, failure to report a crime should be regarded as an accessory to the crime.

If an organisation deserves tax free status because of its charitable works, and then fails to protect the very people they are supposedly trying to help, then I don't see why they should continue to receive the benefit of being tax free. Child abuses should never be covered up!

Please suspend all Tax Free status for all organisations that refuse mandatory reporting sex or other offenders to the police. I dont want to be complicit in their abuse.
