Breaking news: a federal appeals court ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) is unconstitutional. DOMA has been rejected again and again by the courts, but Republicans in Congress are dead-set on defending it.

We need to act NOW to get rid of this discriminatory law once and for all.

There's no denying it: we took a huge step forward as a country when President Obama announced his support for gay marriage. But when you look at what happened in Colorado and North Carolina, it's clear that we have a long way to go.

The Defense of Marriage Act is a discriminatory and disrespectful measure that does not live up to ‘equality for all’ that is protected under the U.S. Constitution. We must respect the rights of all Americans who seek to form loving, committed relationships regardless of their sexual orientation.

It's long past time to overturn DOMA.

Please go to www.goosewatchalliance.com for the wonderful news from Central Oregon.

We in Bend are now in our third year of an exclusively nonlethal management program. We have joined the growing number of communities that have discovered that no-kill strategies are the cost-effective, sustainable solution to exclude the geese from conflict zones. In addition there is evidence that migratory, not resident, geese collided with Sullenberger's plane. And--Canada geese represent a small fraction of total bird-airplane incidents. When we kill the geese, we are acting irrationally, as well as cruelly.
