HMV, the iconic music retailer, has gone into administration - telling customers that it will no longer be accepting gift vouchers as a result.
My family, like many others, gave and received HMV vouchers for Christmas. Now we are being told vouchers we bought just weeks ago are worthless.
HMV did not go bankrupt overnight - this had been in the pipeline for a while - so why go ahead with selling gift vouchers over the festive period when the store knew there was a risk that not all customers would be able to redeem them?
Loyal HMV customers have been robbed of their money.
The accountancy firm Deloitte has been called in to deal with what happens to HMV. When Comet went into administration with Deloitte customers were also told gift vouchers would not be accepted -- but then Deloitte changed its mind and decided to pay back customers. If Deloitte can decide to honour Comet vouchers it can change its mind and honour HMV vouchers too.
Help us campaign for the right to redeem HMV vouchers before stores close for good by signing this petition!
