Gov. Rick Scott: Stop the Voter Purge!

    1. Petition by

      Change Nation

If you’re a Florida voter, Governor Rick Scott might be after you.

Election season is heating up, and Governor Scott has decided to make a change that has disenfranchised thousands of eligible Florida voters.   Floridians who have been voting for decades are now falsely being told that they are dead, in prison, or not citizens of the United States.

It’s no coincidence that these voters are fraudulently being told they are not eligible only months before elections -- Governor Scott doesn’t want to give them time to go through an appeal process.

Tens of thousands of Floridans have already been affected by this voting purge. And sadly, although unsurprisingly, the Republican Governor’s voter purge is most affecting minorities and Democrats.

The U.S. Department of Justice has already ordered Governor Scott to stop the voter purge - and Republican elections officials across Florida are flat-out refusing to accept these "purge lists."

Now it's time for YOU to take action.  Tell Governor Rick Scott and the state’s Division of Elections to stop taking away voting rights!

    2. Florida Election Officials Refuse Gov. Scott's "Purge Lists"

From ThinkProgress: On Wednesday, Palm Beach County Elections Supervisor Susan Bucher (D) told ThinkProgress her office has rejected the error-ridden list of alleged non-citizen voters sent to county officials by Gov. Rick Scott’s (R-FL) administration. Now, as the Department of Justice has told Florida to stop its illegal purge, county elections officials across Florida have confirmed their counties will not comply with the state’s effort. So...it seems that even Republican elections officials in Florida - like Kathy Dent of Sarasota - think this is going too far. Why won't Gov. Scott act?

    4. Justice Department Joins in Demanding Florida Stop Purging Voter Rolls

According an update from Talking Points Memo, "the Justice Department sent a letter to Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner Thursday evening demanding the state cease purging its voting rolls because the process it is using has not been cleared under the Voting Rights Act."

The article continues, "DOJ also said that Florida’s voter roll purge violated the National Voter Registration Act, which stipulates that voter roll maintenance should have ceased 90 days before an election."

This leads to what we as Americans called voter discrimination. This reminds me of how hard it used to be to vote back in Mississippi,Georgia,Alabama and several other states that denied a person the right to vote because of the color of their skin. New laws and rules, same old bullshit. You're gonna eventually see what happens when you keep stepping on people that have rights and you're trying to deny them the right to vote.

Gov. Rick Scott...perhaps if the "government" had "rubber gloved" the immigrants of yesteryear...you wouldn't be here! Who died and make you King? Who died and made you "All Knowing"? Who do you think you are? I hope you get your ass sued off! You are NOT an American! Follow the order of the US Department of Justice...or I shall pray that you pay for your sins!
