The release of the Saint Bernard known as Alchemy.

Alchemy is a beautiful 2 year old Saint Bernard, who has been seized by the Chesapeake Animal Control Unit, and slated as dangerous. He currently has a foster home that is aware of any and all issues that Alchemy has, and feels that due to a situation that was beyond Alchemy's control, he had behaved in a manner that is consistent with how a dog might behave under these conditions, and feels that he will thrive in his new adoptive foster home until his owners can obtain a new residence in which he can return to them. The foster home is aware that this may require some time and is open to keeping Alchemy with them, with no time constraints placed or for any financial obligations placed upon the owners. The foster parent has been a former dog handler, uses a positive reinforcement technique when handling dogs, is very familiar with the Saint Bernard Breed, and has the financial ability to take on a giant breed and the love, patience, time and understanding to dedicate to Alchemy. We petition the courts to immediately release Alchemy from the Chesapeake Animal Control Unit and to lift the title of Dangerous Dog from him.

Alchemy is out on bail. The People need an adjournment. The court recognizes that the shelter would be insufficient to keep the dog due to his size, his trial is June 21st.He will be going to a sanctuary to decompress as well as engage in training to learn new skills in appropriate reactions to stressful situations as he awaits trial. Alchemy's case has made judicial history in that he was given bail, which will set precendent for future cases in which a dog has been confined while awaiting their trial. Please, we ask that you continue to sign and share this petition as he still needs our support. Thank you.

I pray that the courts keep compassion in their hearts in this case, and listen to what the people have voted in a recent poll that was taken by the VaPilot. 756 people poled, asked that Alchemy's life be spared compared to the 352 that stated they believe he should be euthanized. With great hope and many prayers, the courts will listen to what the people of the state, who they as elected officials represent, have asked. That Alchemy be spared.

For any of those that are in the Chesapeake Virginia area, please, we are asking for Alchemy's sake, to come show your support for him. Alchemy dearly needs it. Please come to Chesapeake General District Court located at 307 Albermarle Dr, Chesapeake, VA 23322 on May 8th, 2012, at 2pm to show the courts that we are serious in our desire for them to release Alchemy. Respectful posters and banners are welcomed. If you bring your dogs with you to show your support, you will not be able to enter the court room.

As of today, May 1st 2012, Alchemy has been held in his cage, without exercise or sunlight now for 23 days. Anyone with any experience with this beautiful breed, know that Saints are very susceptible to stress and depression from isolation, and with a dog this age, exercise is crucial as well as being fed several small meals a day, compared to once or twice to help prevent bloat and torsion, both the leading killers of these gentle giants. How can the Chesapeake AC actually hold Alchemy claiming he is a danger, when it is they that is endangering his well being when he has a foster home ready and waiting to take him in? Please if you haven't already, sign this petition, share it with friends, go to his FB page, and share his videos and story with everyone you can. We simply must get him released.

I am the Rescue Liaison for the Saint Bernard Club of the Pacific Coast. If an experienced trainer has determined Alchemy's behavior is capable of being rehabilitated, please give the foster parent a chance to work with this saint and save a life.

As there is a capable foster home arranged for Alchemy keeping him in a stressful situation such as an animal shelter is only going to make things worse. Saints aren't known as aggressive dogs and love to work with people. I can only guess that his environment is the problem not the dog. Please release him to the foster home and give this dog a chance.

This is an embarassment to the city of Chesapeake. The dog has hot spots and reacted as any dog would, as I probably would if someone touched a sore spot. Animal handlers worth their salt should know this and be trying to assist the dog not kill it.

a bite is different than an attack. Any and all dogs can bite. They have teeth. People should remember this when caring for any pet. Alcgemy needs a chance to prove himself. Please allow him this oppurtunity. He probably feels scared and abandoned.

As an owner of a dog belonging to the St Bernard breed I can tell you that their temperment is normally gentle and loving. Please have this dog professionally evaluated before making any decision to euthanize. All life put on earth by God is precious.
