Victory

After 13 months, 124 campaigns, and more than 1.8 million Change.org petition signatures, the Boy Scouts of America voted on and approved a resolution that allows openly gay youth to participate in Scouting. Thank you for signing this petition and helping to make this victory possible. Unfortunately, the Boy Scouts continue to ban gay parents and adult leaders from their organization. To join the effort to end all discrimination in Scouting, please go to http://change.org/ScoutLeaders today.

We, the Scouting community of Wisconsin and The Upper Peninsula urge the Bay Lakes Council to reject the Boy Scouts of America's anti-gay policy.

Service organizations including the Girl Scouts, the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and the 4H Club all welcome gay kids and adult leaders. Also, the American Medical Association has opposed the Boy Scouts' anti-gay policy, saying it could cause "psychological trauma" in youth.

We love the Boy Scouts, but we can’t support this policy. That's why we urge you to speak out and adopt an inclusive policy like other troops, packs, councils, and lodges across the country have done -- so the Boy Scouts can maintain its relevancy, improve recruitment, and truly live by the principles it teaches its members.

NOTE: We encourage everyone to join this campaign, but if you're a current or former Scout or leader, please say so in the "Why People Are Signing" section. Thanks!

To:
Mark Logemann, Scout Executive, Bay-Lakes Council
Dear Mr. Logeman

The Scouting community of Wisconsin and The Upper Peninsula urge you and the Bay Lakes Council to reject the Boy Scouts of America's anti-gay policy.

Sincerely,

Today at 10:00 AM I had a appointment with scout executive Mark Loggeman
The outcome is a GIANT ??? He said that it will be transferred to the voting members of the council so that they could consider our opinions. So it was unsuccessful. But... all is not lost I plan on putting some high pressure on them and try to get them to crack.
      Thanks for the support!
      I will keep you updated

What harms one person harms us all. To discriminate against young gay males is to once again put them in a position where they lack support. Regardless of anyone's personal feelings regarding same gender attraction to not give a healthy organization for a youth serves no purpose for the betterment of society. If I remember correctly,

The Boy Scouts of America is a prominent values-based youth development organization. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.

For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

Neglecting gay boys doesn't help them in any of these ways.

Webelo - Arrow of Light, Troop #517 Los Gatos, CA 95032, c.1975 At the age of 10, I had no idea I was destined to be GAY. HONESTY is one of the Scout ideals. It is time to let gay boys in the ranks be honest with themselves, their fellow scouts, their families, their community, and their God.

I was a cub scout leader for 4 years and always thought the anti-gay policy was wrong, but stayed in it for my son, who now years later understands that this policy is wrong.

I am gay and was a Boy Scout in the early 1970's and I don't see the relevance of excluding gay youth from becoming Boy Scouts and learning all the wonderful things I learned in the Scouts.
