Through humane education we can end the cycle of violence in our time.

It will take more than money and resources to end violence. The purpose of SWIVL is to create new strategies and interventions for ending violence in our time. By holding a new field of vision based on compassion and empathy for all of life, we can create a violencefree human community. As a practical first step it is necessary to acknowledge that the connection between domestic violence, child abuse and animal cruelty is a system-wide schematic of violence. In contrast to traditional conflict management and programs calculated to reduce violence, it is necessary to have a full system design for eliminating violence throughout the human community. This calls for a political, social and economic shift in individual and collective thinking. Such a shift in thinking begins with the education of our children which requires a place where the community, family and school are integrated into a total learning environment.
