Tell John Boehner to Do His Job

Last Friday, Speaker John Boehner walked out of debt ceiling negotiations with President Obama. He also refused to return the president’s phone call. It is clear that Republicans prioritize political posturing and not the U.S. economy.

We are down to the wire. Our entire economy rests on the full faith and credit of the United States government, but if the Republicans get their way and allow the government to default on its debt, the resulting economic disaster would make 2008’s meltdown look like a pothole. Markets would plunge. Home values and retirement accounts would be wiped out. Soldiers wouldn’t be paid. And veterans’ benefits and Social Security checks would stop.

And for what? So extremist Republicans can end Medicare, but keep subsidies for oil companies.

It’s time for us to stand up and tell John Boehner to stop holding our economy hostage. Add your voice with the DSCC: Tell Boehner to do his job and compromise on the debt ceiling.

      MAKE THE CORPORATIONS PAY THEIR SHARE OF TAXES. LIMIT THE AMOUNT CORPORATIONS AND THEIR OFFICERS CAN CONTRIBUTE TO CAMPAIGN ELECTIONS TO $1500. LOWER POLITICIAN SALARIES. NO LIFETIME INCOME UNLESS THEY WORKED FOR 10 YEARS. WE WANT THE GOVT TO WORK FOR THE PEOPLE NOT CORPS.!!!

      Dear Mr. Speaker:

      What has happened with our country? Can you even look in the mirror? You and your party display a complete lack of respect for the President of OUR United States. Every Republican should be ashamed. You have refused to return a phone call to the President? HOW OFFENSIVE. You and your party filibuster almost every bill brought up, then scream about what little President Obama has accomplished. A smart one screams "you lie" at a State of the Union speech. Your party spits out numbers regarding unemployment, costs of the wars, (YOUR party got us into) future debt ceilings the president is creating. Perhaps this information would be pertinent if anyone giving this information came up with the same figures. Every time I hear a Republican speak, there are different numbers. I assume they get their information from Fox News. I ask you this, since President Bush drove this country into the ground and he is now gone,who is currently paying you off to keep no new taxes on the books? It is disgusting that 3% of Americans (the rich) are now running the country, while someone from another country is allowed to run a network that spews lie's. Where is your decency? Lets start here: 1). Everything uttered by ANY Congressman or Senator must be truth or they will be brought up on charges and 2). Every member of the Senate and Congress will no longer receive life-long health insurance. (Unless you are injured on the job). I wonder what that would save the tax payers as I am sure your health insurance doesn't cost you $1,200.00 a month with a $7,000.00 deductible a year. I point this out because I am sure the Insurance Companies are mixed up in the attempt to keep the "no new taxes" in place. Just look up what the CEO of United Health Care made last year.

      I think a terrific cut would be Congressmen & senators do not get their full salary upon retirement regardless of terms. They pay into Social Security starting yesterday, they are no longer able to vote for their own raises or benefits package whatever they get will be decided by a vote every four years and depending upon performance they will get what is due them. Currently they owe us money!! They are certainly not representing us in Washington, it seems they forgot the part of the Constitution that they are there to uphold which states that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. Apparently they have not read this recently

      The Republican Party has ALWAYS been against labor and are in favor of the RICH. Get rid of the BUSH TAX BREAKS, they are NOT creating jobs............ BOERHNER, IMPEACH HIM!!!!!!!!!!

      My family has been Republican since the start of the Republican party. I am ashamed of their actions. I will not vote Republican again. You not only are destroying your party you are destroying this country. There have been 27 Amendments to the Constitution and 10 of those were the Bill of Rights. You have no right to re-write what our founding fathers determined was in the best interest of our nation. If we don't meet the deadline I hope everyone in Boehners district sues him and demands his resignation.
