Stop the Next Offshore Oil Disaster

    1. Sponsored by

      Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund

The Deepwater Horizon oil disaster devastated the Gulf Coast economy and claimed the lives of 11 workers and scores of animals, including threatened and endangered sea turtles, brown pelicans and dolphins. The long-term ecological impacts of the disaster may not be known for years.

The “Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling” has presented the results of its comprehensive, nonpartisan investigation of this environmental disaster, and revealed systemic and industry-wide missteps and safety lapses that could lead to another catastrophe.

Congress has yet to act in response to this disaster.

You can help: urge your representative and senators to take action now to ensure that this risky industry operates in our national interest and accepts full financial liability for its mistakes.

With so many green alternatives to fossil fuels, the only thing keeping the industry in business is greed. It is shameful.

When profit and greed prevail before safety and regard to our fellow man and our fellow animals, this is what happens. I would like to urge the powers that be to take this unfortunate matter as a genuine reason to promote viable and realistic renewable power. Namely solar and biofuel initiatives.
