Stop Federal Wolf Killing in Idaho

    1. Sponsored by

      Defenders of Wildlife Action Fund

In one of its first moves since retaking the reins of wolf management, Idaho officials called in the Agriculture Department's Wildlife Services -- the federal government's chief wildlife-killing agency -- to kill wolves in the central part of the state.

Using radio collars to track down wolf packs in the area, the airborne marksmen only managed to kill five wolves. The mission was quickly abandoned, described as both inefficient and expensive by the Wildlife Services agents themselves.

But Wildlife Services could continue gunning from the skies and trapping on the ground to artificially boost game populations in the region.

Take action now: Urge the USDA's Wildlife Services Agency to abandon aerial wolf-killing in Idaho by Wildlife Services.

Idaho Fish and Game released its proposed guidelines and quota for hunting wolves this fall. The proposal includes no quotas across most of the state, allowing an indefinite number of wolves to be killed with valid hunting permits.

All sentient beings should be respected and treated with compassion. What you are doing is WRONG, plain and simple. Wolves were here before us and yet time and time again, we are arrogant enough to believe we have the perfect right to kill off other species for our own benefits. We should respect all wildlife, all animals have a reason to be on this earth apart from us because all we do is destroy the planet we live on.

As the author of the critically acclaimed book, WOLF EMPIRE, and a longtime animal behaviorist, specializing in wolves, I can unequivocally say, that aerial hunting of wolves, or any other species, is roundly considered to be among the most despicable and cowardly acts, our species can commit... This is *not* "hunting," or "wildlife management..." It is

massacre, perpetrated by cowards of a violent nature.
