LGBT leaders give our community a powerful voice in decisions that affect our lives.

Visible and effective leaders promote understanding and inspire respect—and they are role models who show all of us that you can be honest about who you are, overcome tough challenges and succeed.

By bringing our community’s voice to the table, our leaders help our country live up to its promise of equal representation for all.

The elections earlier this month brought victories and hope – newly elected and appointed LGBT officials are breaking ground toward a more equal and fair America:

-- Openly gay and lesbian legislators in Washington state have announced they will introduce a bill next year seeking full marriage rights for same-sex couples.

-- Chris Seelbach won his race for the Cincinnati, Ohio city council. He becomes the first openly LGBT council member in the city’s history.

-- Caitlin Copple won her race for the Missoula, Montana, city council, defeating an incumbent who voted against an LGBT non-discrimination ordinance.

There are dozens of courageous candidates across the country.  But the road to victory isn't easy -- LGBT candidates typically must raise twice the money that straight candidates need to raise. With smart strategic support and the financial resources necessary, LGBT candidates can run and win anywhere.

Stand with our leaders—and be part of a winning team that’s inspiring change in people and policy across America and around the world.

If we want change within our system we must be in that system.

If a person is qualified to do the work that is required while they are in office, then their sexual orientation should not be a factor in such decisions. It is about the work that can be done, nothing else.
