Last week you signed a petition asking the Mayor to cancel the Marathon in the face of an unprecedented natural disaster affecting NYC and beyond. As I’m sure you know, your voice, along with 30,000 others who signed the petition, was heard by the Mayor! In a shocking turn of events, the Mayor and Mary Wittenberg of the New York Road Runners organization listened to you, and made the right decision. We were informed that the Mayor and his staff were very much aware of the petition, and we can say with great confidence that it truly helped turned the tide. All of New York City and the surrounding areas thank you for taking the time to do your part. Considering the difficult and dangerous situation still faced by so many people, this was, quite literally, a life-saving decision.
We encourage you to continue to look for ways to help the human (and animal) residents of New York City and the surrounding areas who are still in desperate need of assistance. You already made a major contribution last week by taking the time to sign the petition. Let’s help to continue to take care of our own. Congratulations and stay safe!!
