Illinois: Please Help Bring Justice for Victims of Sex Trafficking Crimes!

The Illinois Legislative Session has reached a critical moment and your help is needed to move an important human trafficking bill forward before it is too late! This important bill will help bring justice for victims of sex trafficking crimes.

This bill will help survivors of sex trafficking remove past convictions of prostitution that occurred as a result of being trafficked.  The bill will help sex trafficking survivors to seek employment, loans and other aspects of life that require a criminal background check without the challenge of a criminal record marred by prostitution-related convictions and move toward safe and stable lives.

The only way this bill will advance is if legislators hear a strong message from their Illinois constituents to pass this bill. More information on the bill can be found here.

I really would like to see this post, reposted, repeated and shared by everyone who visits my wall or finds this on his or her wall... I will indeed keep this at the top of my list each and every day until I know that everybody understands that, "more than four-fifths of the confirmed victims of sex trafficking - about 83 percent – were (are indeed) U.S. citizens,..." is a fact.

Those invovled in human trafficking should serve life sentences or death by firing squad.

Being victimized shouldn't be a criminal offense: move the conviction to the pimp's record.

The more aware I become of the reality of human trafficking within our own country, state and city the more upset I become about the injustices that continue penalizing victims. Removing records of past convictions would certainly help some victims repair their lives.
