Change.org is searching for an Engineering Manager to help us lead the Starter Growth team!

We’re a social impact business (a public benefit company), and the largest tech platform focused on civic action in the world with 80m monthly users, 50,000 campaigns launched on the site every month, 150 staff, and a new revenue model that has grown by 500% in 2 years.

We’re growing quickly, and our users win campaigns for change once every hour. From strengthening hate crime legislation in South Africa; fighting corruption in Indonesia, Italy, and Brazil; to fighting violence against women in India. We are looking for an Engineering Manager who is great at SEO/SEM growth engineering working with complex web frameworks at scale and has a passion for expanding our platform to mobilize hundreds of millions of people to take deeper civic action.

You will be based out of our San Francisco headquarters and report to our Senior Director of Application Development. You’re a perfect fit for this role if your superpower is engineering leadership alongside full stack experience with an eye towards frontend development and user experience.

Key Responsibilities / Core Skills

React.js: Ability to work throughout our tech stack (React, JS, GraphQL, Ruby, Elixir) with a focus on Front End capabilities

Technical Leadership: Ability to breakdown vague product requirements and piece together comprehensive plans to lead full team execution

Management: You’ve helped shape and define other engineers’ growth. Even better if you’ve also been responsible for their growth as their direct manager!

Growth Engineering: Understanding of aspects of user growth, and familiarity with principles of SEO/SEM and content management

Target experience:

It’s rare that a candidate has a ‘perfect’ set of relevant experiences, we do not expect this, and all candidates are encouraged to apply, even if you are missing some of the items in the list below. Experiences we’ll be looking out for, and which we think will be helpful coming into a role like this are

-8 years of software engineering experience
-5 years of frontend framework experience (e.g. Angular, Vue, Rendr) with 3 years in React
-2 years experience in technical leadership and team management
-Expert Knowledge of SEO/SEM and content management
-Experience with Elixir/Ruby a plus

Interested? Great! Here's what you should know: This is a full-time role based in San Francisco. Our team is high impact, low ego, and has an amazing culture to be part of.

We are accepting applications until September 30th 2020.

This is a full time role, and while we do strongly prefer folks living in San Francisco, we are open to folks outside of the Bay Area, this role will be remote for the foreseeable future.
