Change.org is the world's largest technology platform for social change. Our goal is to empower people everywhere to start campaigns around the issues they care about, mobilize others, and work with decision makers to drive solutions.

Over 180 million people have started and signed petitions including strengthening hate crime legislation in South Africa; fighting corruption in Indonesia, Italy, and Brazil; ending the ban on gay Boy Scouts in the United States, and big wins for women’s rights in India. And we’re just getting started.
Here’s a small snapshot of some of the victories our users have had:https://youtu.be/h4O81mgK85E

We love serving our incredible users, and we love our staff too. We show it with competitive salaries, five weeks of vacation, robust parental leave, an amazing culture, and a high impact, low-ego team that can’t wait to learn from you and teach you what they know.

About the role:
Change.org is seeking a highly-motivated individual to coordinate campaigns work that drives engagement and impact on petitions related to animal protection, including issues affecting wildlife, food and testing industries, companion animals, and more. This role requires familiarity with the animal rights and animal welfare movements, and an ability to articulate and determine what makes for a compelling animals petition from the many petitions started on the Change.org platform.

Change.org is a membership driven platform, which means our company is funded, in part, through generous contributions that help our platform remain free, open to all, and powered by the very people who use our tools. This role will be key in developing Change.org’s animals membership program. The campaign selection, campaign escalation, program priorities, and content development should seamlessly correspond with strategies for driving new member recruitment, as well as engagement of existing members so that we retain a strong and vibrant program.

This role will be responsible for driving campaign progress, making sure animal-related campaign moments connect back to the membership program to drive acquisition of new members, and for helping retain members by providing updates, content, and more to those who join the animal protection membership program.

The role may also help drive other campaigns and membership related work of the North American team as needed and discussed.

As a member of our team:

  • Support impactful campaigns through research and planning - including campaign narrative, tactics, timelines, messaging - based on your understanding of power and leverage points needed to win campaigns
  • Regularly audit and spot compelling campaign opportunities from petitions that are started by Change.org users -- looking for opportunities to feature petitions to users via email, and to share the stories of petition starters with our users over social media, on Change.org’s blog, and to traditional media as warranted
  • Work with a core team focused on scaling Change.org’s membership program to build a vibrant community of people who care deeply about making an impact in the world of animal protection. This will be closely integrated with the impact work of campaigning, and you’ll be part of a team executing on this priority
  • Liaise with organizations to support their work on Change.org or to connect them to petition starters to amplify their campaigns
  • Stay up to date on corporate news, politics, and pop culture to identify opportunities to engage the public in rapid response animal-related campaigns
  • Help the North America team tackle other tasks around long-term engagement of users and scaling membership to support the sustainability of the company.

This describes you:

  • Deep commitment to our mission of empowering people everywhere to win campaigns on the critical issues of our times.
  • Familiarity with online fundraising tactics, email list engagement, and/or cultivating and building membership or subscription programs.
  • 2-3+ years experience in grassroots organizing, political campaigning, social activism, or community engagement.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple campaigns in different phases of the campaign cycle simultaneously through prioritization, communication, and timeline-driven planning.
  • Social media skills that show an ability to engage followers and create content that gains traction and shares.
  • Comfortable working virtually -- though you’ll have some colleagues physically in the office, the North American team is spread across multiple cities and time zones, and globally we work with colleagues in nearly 20 countries.
