La consommation électrique excessive du Bitcoin est une préoccupation majeure pour beaucoup, y compris pour moi.

En tant que citoyen préoccupé par l'avenir de notre planète, j'ai été alarmé par la hausse exponentielle de l'énergie nécessaire pour "miner" et faire fonctionner le réseau Bitcoin.

Selon le Cambridge Center for Alternative Finance, le réseau Bitcoin consomme actuellement une quantité d'énergie comparable à celle de certains pays entiers. Le minage de Bitcoin utilise chaque année entre 138 et 172 TWh d’électricité, soit l’équivalent de la consommation d’un pays comme la Pologne.

Cette réalité est non seulement préoccupante du point de vue environnemental mais soulève aussi des interrogations sur la manière dont nous gérons nos ressources énergétiques mondiales.

Le processus de création et de gestion du Bitcoin, connu sous le nom de "minage", nécessite une puissance de calcul phénoménale, qui elle-même est extrêmement énergivore. En effet, une transaction Bitcoin unique peut utiliser la même quantité d'énergie que des milliers de transactions de cartes de crédit. Dans un monde où la réduction des émissions de carbone est devenue cruciale pour lutter contre le changement climatique, cette consommation est non viable et irresponsable.

Nous devons donc envisager de bannir l'utilisation et la détention de Bitcoin, pour des alternatives écologiques plus développées et ayant un impact énergétique bien moindre (comme par exemple la technologie Hashgraph ou alternatives coins). 

Je vous appelle à signer cette pétition pour presser nos dirigeants à prendre des mesures décisives contre la consommation énergétique disproportionnée d'une technologie dépassée et sans réelle utilité si ce n'est la spéculation financière. 

De nombreux pays dans le monde ont interdit la détention de bitcoin, la France  et l'Europe se doivent eux aussi d'emprunter ce chemin là pour inspirer à terme les Etats-Unis. Le jour où les Etats-Unis empruntent cette voie, les institutionnels seront contraints de vendre ce qui provoquera un effondrement et la mort du bitcoin. 

Il ne s'agirait pas de se priver de la technologie blockchain, qui peut avoir de nombreux cas d'usages dans le monde de demain, mais d'un outil trop énergivore à faibles performances. Comme nous avons interdit l'exploitation du charbon pour de meilleures alternatives, nous devons prendre conscience qu'il est de notre devoir de faire de même avec Bitcoin.  Ensemble, nous pouvons promouvoir une utilisation plus responsable de nos ressources énergétiques tout en explorant des voies durables pour l'avenir de la technologie financière. The excessive electricity consumption of Bitcoin is a major concern for many, including me.
As a citizen worried about the future of our planet, I have been alarmed by the exponential rise in the energy required to “mine” and operate the Bitcoin network.
According to the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, the Bitcoin network currently consumes an amount of energy comparable to that of some entire countries. Bitcoin mining uses between 138 and 172 TWh of electricity each year, equivalent to the consumption of a country like Poland.
This reality is not only worrying from an environmental perspective but also raises questions about how we manage our global energy resources.

The process of creating and maintaining Bitcoin, known as “mining,” requires phenomenal computing power, which is itself extremely energy-intensive. In fact, a single Bitcoin transaction can use the same amount of energy as thousands of credit-card transactions. In a world where reducing carbon emissions has become crucial to fight climate change, this consumption is unsustainable and irresponsible.

We should therefore consider banning the use and possession of Bitcoin in favor of more environmentally friendly alternatives that have a much lower energy impact (for example, Hashgraph technology or alternative coins).

I call on you to sign this petition to pressure our leaders to take decisive action against the disproportionate energy consumption of an outdated technology that has no real purpose other than financial speculation.
Many countries around the world have banned holding Bitcoin; France and Europe must also follow this path to ultimately inspire the United States. The day the United States takes this route, institutions will be forced to sell, which will cause a collapse and the death of Bitcoin.

This would not mean giving up blockchain technology— which can have many use cases in tomorrow’s world— but banning a tool that is too energy-hungry and low-performing. Just as we have banned coal mining in favor of better alternatives, we must recognize that it is our duty to do the same with Bitcoin. Together, we can promote a more responsible use of our energy resources while exploring sustainable paths for the future of financial technology. Your signature can make a difference!
