Njikoka Community Project
Njikoka Community Project(The African Book Bank Center-Tabb Center) project is a collaborative effort between The Massachusetts Citizens for Africa and Wings of the Dawn International Institute for Children and the Njikoka Community. The purpose of this project is to provide 24,000 books and basic educational supplies to impoverished villages and schools in southeast Nigeria.
Many African teachers teach Reading, Writing, Math and English without a single book to use as a resource.
Our current project is in Njikoka Local Government Area in Southeast, Nigeria.
Why Nigeria
Just 55 percent of primary school aged children in Nigeria are enrolled in school, and the increase in orphan numbers may reduce this even further, with the greatest impact on girls. In Africa, girls account for the majority of the approximately 33 million primary school-aged children who are not enrolled in school.
