Mission
Vitamin Angels reduces child mortality worldwide by connecting essential micronutrients with infants and children under five. Essential nutrients, especially vitamin A, help young immune systems fight infectious diseases, helping children attain good health and the opportunity to lead meaningful and productive lives.
Programs
Thrive to Five
Vitamin Angels’ Thrive to Five program provides women and children in the US and abroad with essential multivitamins to develop young bodies and minds before and after birth.
Operation 20/20
Operation 20/20, Vitamin Angels’ global vitamin A campaign, focuses on eliminating childhood blindness and reducing child mortality caused by vitamin A deficiency worldwide by the year 2020. It only costs 25 cents per year to provide one child with the vitamin A required for growth, development, body function, and survival. In 2009, Vitamin Angels will connect 10 million children worldwide with vitamin A and antiparasitic medicine.
History
Vitamin Angels was founded in 1994 by Howard Schiffer.
