Fill the Sky!

Join me and send a message of hope to refugees around the world.
The plight of refugees is close to my heart. The reality of having to leave one's homeland because of war is something I wrote about in my novel The Kite Runner and something that many of my friends and family members have experienced as well.
Fill the Sky with messages of hope.
Afghan refugees need our help. Today’s release of the film version of The Kite Runner gives me a new opportunity to raise awareness about their plight. Please join me in "filling the sky" with messages of hope to the millions of Afghan refugees. Click here to launch your very own virtual kite with a personalized message of hope. Then, invite your friends to join you as we "Fill the Sky." As the US Envoy for the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), I recently traveled to Afghanistan and met with families who just returned home. I looked into their eyes and saw hope for a better tomorrow. But I also saw the harsh realities they face upon return—no shelter, no schools for their children, and few job opportunities are just some of the challenges. Together we can let Afghan refugees know that we have not forgotten them. Tell your friends on Facebook, MySpace, at school and at the office. Get as many friends as possible and we can make a difference.
Please, join me in launching your own kite today. Send a holiday message of hope to refugees from Afghanistan and around the world.
Sincerely,
Khaled Hosseini
author, The Kite Runner
P.S. Our work with Afghan refugees depends on the generosity of supporters like you. Please consider making a tax-deductible gift to the UN Refugee Agency today. Thank you in advance for all you do.
