I Pledge to Have a Fair Trade Valentine's Day
I pledge to be someone's Fair Trade Valentine this year by purchasing only Fair Trade Certified™ flowers and chocolate for Valentine's Day.
Fair Trade Certified Flowers
Valentine's Day 2008 marks the official US launch of Fair Trade Certified flowers! Fair Trade certification guarantees that the flower workers enjoy a safe working environment, and that the flowers were grown according to strict environmental criteria. In addition, flower workers invest Fair Trade premiums in community development programs that benefit themselves and their families. Visit our producer profiles to learn about Fair Trade flower farms, and click here to find out where to buy Fair Trade Certified flowers.
Fair Trade Certified Chocolate
Fair Trade Certified chocolate supports democratic associations of small cocoa farms. Fair Trade Certification guarantees that the cocoa was produced according to strict labor standards, and that cocoa farmers were paid a fair price for their crop. In addition, Fair Trade cocoa producers vote on how to invest Fair Trade premiums in their communities. Visit our producer profiles to learn more about Fair Trade cocoa producers, and click here to find out where to buy Fair Trade Certified chocolate.
This is an ongoing pledge that should be fulfilled as often as possible.

If Valentine's day is about love where's the love in participating in unethical global supply chains where flower workers are exposed to pesticides and child labor was involved in the chocolate production? This movement is the way to the sustainable future and a holiday that can remind us all year long to be a conscious participant in a global community.

i work at a catholic religious community, and the SIsters have pledged Fair Trade for every day. We only purchase coffee and teas that are certified FT and at christmas and other holidays where treats are given as gifts, they are always marked Fair Trade. Treat others as you wish yourself to be treated.

It is important to think before you buy. Especially on mass consumer holidays like mothers day or valentines day. I pledge to think before I buy always.
