Campaign to Protect the Tongass Rainforest
TCS is embarking on an ambitious and proactive campaign to protect the Tongass National Forest, the world's largest remaining temperate rainforest. What is unique about this approach? Not only do we address National Forest issues, we choose to look at the Forest holistically, and deal with challenges on Alaska state lands, private lands, and quasi-private lands like those owned by the University of Alaska and the Alaska Mental Health Trust.
The effect of clearcutting knows no boundaries, and the Goshawk, Alexander Archipelago Wolf, and Flying Squirrel pay no mind to politically driven borders...so any solution to the widespread destruction must be comprehensive. TCS' approach is comprehensive and proactive.
Prior to the arrival of agencies state and federal, and corporate minds seeking to exploit the land, the Alaskan Native communities throughout the region cared for the land holistically, and still strive to do so. We stand with the Native communities of Southeast Alaska in their approach.
Please join with us to protect these lands and these communities for the sake of the Seventh Generation.
