Going on the air! SOAR and the EPIAA to be covered by FOX 21!
Published March 15, 2008 @ 12:12PM PT
FOX 21 will be following the daily routines of one of Hawkeye Ranch’s supporters, Lynn Hamilton, along with one of our board members, Rhonda Spellman, to cover the importance of full-life care for those with autism. Kudos to these wonderful women! Both women have sons with autism and are strong advocates for autism awareness.
Fox 21 will be following the treatments, diets and therapies that Lynn and Rhonda’s children need, exposing the high cost, and then addressing the black hole in our government’s current system that ends support for these treatments and therapies when the child turns 18. The EPIAA proposes funding for adults with autism to change this gap. Then they will cover what everyone can do to change the situation- participate in the SOAR program.
One of the challenges of promoting the Expand the Promise for Individuals with Autism Act has been that television coverage of the act and its importance to families has had little to no presence in some states. It is very exciting to see a television station picking up a groung breaking story that is complex, politically charged and socially important.
We will keep you posted on where you can view the story outside of FOX 21 area. Stay tuned!
