Empower Youth, Connect Communities Campaign
Last summer, SCI Dorchester hired and trained a team of 6 young adults to play a key role in the development and marketing of our new civic networking website. These youth increased use of the mydorchester.org community site by 33% while gaining marketable leadership skills.
At the recent Social Capitalist Luncheon, we announced our goal of raising $12,000 to fund 2 more teams of young people who will help bring SCI’s civic networking tools to 2 new communities. Thanks to the generosity of luncheon guests, and a donor who has offered to match donations made toward this goal, we’ve already raised enough to fund another team of youth. We need your help to fund a second team of youth so that we can empower them to connect their community. Another $2,800 from our network of friends will get us to our goal, as donations made to this appeal by May 5will be matched dollar for dollar until we reach our goal.

SCI will train the next 2 teams of youth in communities where that resource can have the greatest impact, both for the young people and to solidify a partnership with a new SCI Network Community. Charlestown, Fall River, Southbridge and Waltham are among the interested communities we are considering for the next youth teams.
