Save The Orcas Needs Your Help
Published February 08, 2009 @ 08:06PM PT
Greetings, Save The Orcas supporters!
2008 was not a good year for the Southern Resident orca pods, as their population decreased to 83, but we are counting on YOU to help improve things in 2009.
Save The Orcas, Inc. has big plans for upcoming projects that that will promote awareness of the hardships faced by the Southern Residents and other endangered marine mammals worldwide, but before we can progress with this year's work, we must launch our fundraising campaign to secure the money for our 2009 Operating Fund. Once we know that our basic operating costs will be met, we can concentrate on budgeting for special educational projects and programs. As Save The Orcas is run completely by a team of volunteers, our overhead costs are low and we are able to stay in operation for a full year with as little as $4,500.
We know that the economy is poor right now, and that our support network is undoubtedly still recovering from the expenditures of the holiday season, so Save The Orcas is focusing its fundraising efforts on methods that will put minimum financial strain on an already struggling team of supporters. We have launched a website – helpusmakeadifference.org – which compiles and showcases the various ways to fundraise for our organization while doing normal, everyday things, such as shopping online or surfing the web.
In addition, we are also holding a donation drive and contest, with a prize of $100! For a minimum $20 donation, you will receive four entries into our drawing (+ another entry for every additional $5 donated). To enter, simply click on our contest link and follow the instructions.
Many thanks to you all for your support of Save The Orcas, and the very best to everyone in the upcoming new year!
The volunteer staff of Save The Orcas, Inc.
