Because I want to support a food system that works wiht nature, rather than in opposition to it. Becase I want to eat food that is healthy for my body and for the planet. Because I want farmers to know that I am grateful for their stewardship of the land and for putting food on my plate.

One way to support organic food is to volunteer on an organic farm. The increase in hand labor compared to non-organic farming is huge and expensive. You can reconnect with the earth by helping your organic neighbors.

I try to buy organic whenever and wherever I can. I constantly have to fight my husband on organic products because the price is ofter much higher then regular on the counter products. He grew up in a family with NO CLUE how important organic is. I will keep trying and when he doesn't go shopping with me I always slip in as much organic as possible. I understand the organic will be slightly higher because they don't get as high yeilds because of they don't use pumped up pestisides and hormones. If we could get all farmer's to think and use organic the prices would come down and there would be no battle. But of course it is business as usually in America, get all you can without reguard to what it does to the health of the customers or the enviornment. You have my support and I will keep working organic on all the people I know. In fact, I taught my parents about organic and they are so sick of the garbage in food that they are in the process of buying land and growing everything for themselves. The farmers would take a hit if more people made a stand. I will pay more for organic but my husband does not make a lot of extra income so I will not be able to outfit my whole house in organic. I am planning on starting a family and I want to raise my children healthy. Untill things change, I'm not sure what the best answer is. You have my support!

I want to not only support local economy, but also eat healthier food, and get to know the people who are growing it for me. It's just a better choice.
Nicole Hill Carman, Canada @ 03:01PM PT May 13
Chemicals shouldn't be used to grow our foods. It isn't good for us and it isn't good for our environment. I don't support world industry that is consumed with the idea of profit over health and well being.
