Hi Shannon,

I was just exploring your End Homelessness cause page, and found there wasn't really an appropriate place to simply brainstorm solutions. I believe I've discovered a resource that could completely revolutionalize this movement, and an incredibly frugal way too (without cutting ANY corners!).

It is a small company that builds homes that could be errected  in a day (after foundation is laid), constructed with environmentally sound supplies, includes sustainable energy systems, and they're even fireretardant too! All of this, for a mere $10 per square foot!!!
i.e. a 600 sq. ft. home = $6,000
The last time I checked, Habitat for Humanity's homes cost around $45,000 - and have NONE of these eco-bonuses.

I imagine this being a dream solution for all kinds of victims from various disasters; economic, natural, etc... and because the homes are so easy to assemble, I would think they are ideal for the charities that help provide housing for the homeless by utilizing voluteers too.

My first thought was how so many people that have suffered homelessness because of hurricanes are still in FEMA trailers, and how people have been helping each other rebuild their communities. And your blog about Genesis Home, is exactly the type of thing that had also crossed my mind!

Hi Shannon i am a vietnam era Veteran.

1. Use http://www.organicvolunteers.org/farm_finder.asp?Mode=2&host_type=8 to find a home on a farm and be able to eat great food too. I am presently volunteering on a organic grass fed beef farm in central Pa. The elderly couple really need help. I also needed a place for the winter so its a good fit.

2. Connect the elderly who many times are alone and need security and help with students who need to reduce their cost. This could be set up as a college program with credits.

3. Also tell people to use craigslist and look under gigs and domestic and then search for companions / caregiver / elderly and many times people need someone to take care of their parents as a live in. I did this 2 times for 2 years each time.

I hope you can help to set up the colleges and students and the elderly.
