Testimonials

  1. Jessica Lee Human Trafficking can only be stopped when citizens demand it

Education and a citizen-based movement will prove even more powerful than any unsupported government decree.

Founded by Ashoka Fellow Derek Ellerman, Polaris Project does great work here in DC and across the US! Very informative website, too.

  2. Daniel Cox Polaris - a guiding light

After speaking with the ED of Polaris, I became a committed supporter of this organization.  Sex trafficking is a complex issue that needs to be tackled by intelligent, compassionate individuals capable of breaking through to women caught in the cycle.  I am convinced Polaris is capable of making major inroads in cities around the country.

On Sunday, March 16th, 2008, Polaris Project was featured in Nicholas Kristof's op-ed article in the NYTimes entitled "The Pimps' Slaves."  In the article, Kristof asserts that "If the Spitzer affair causes us to lose sight of the broader reality of prostitution, then the biggest loser will be the girls for whom selling sex isn't a choice but a night... Human trafficking is a vicious circle of cruelty and insensitivity for the innocent young girls and women caught in its monstrous web, especially in south east asian countries where trafficking is considered to be a source of livelihood for the families who voluntarily give their daughters and children away to fulfill the selfish motives of some very inhuman people. The issue needs wide spread awareness and thorough groundwork needs to be done on the regions where its at its worst.Micro-level need based programmes must be intiated and taken forward until objectives are met, especially since this sought of a problem requires also the co-operation of the governments of the countries involved. I do POLARIS is able to deal with this effectively with its huge support system it has generated and the able intellectuals who could devise solutions for the problem that is not only harming and destroying the lives of its victims, but is also a blotch on the face of humanity and its morals.all the very best.
