It is growing ever more urgent to take a stand FOR the PREVENTION of unwanted animals in addition to the stand AGAINST the INHUMANE and TORTUREOUS treatment these poor animals are subject to. This country is facing an all out epidemic of unwanted animals thanks to the lax, and in most cases, non existent spay and neuter laws. This problem seems to be worse in my home state of North Carolina for which I am utterly horrified and ashamed. Because of the lack of laws and consequences for irresponsible animal care we are faced with a devestating overpopulation of unwanted animals and the monsters who wish to extinguish them from the face of the earth through torture and inhumane methods. This kind of problem seems to fuel some peoples desire to torture and control.  The Robeson County Animal Control is a perfect example of that.  And while they and all those like them deserve to pay dearly for their inhumane treatment of the animals, so too does everyone that does not properly care for their animals by having them spayed and neutered. THIS HAS TO END NOW. NOW is the time to stand up and take our part of the responsibility for this travesty of justice. We MUST INSIST upon new laws with stiff sentences for not  having our animals spayed and neutered. If a person cannot afford to have this done and there is not a good place you can get to that does it for free or a reduced cost, then you do not need an animal. It is that simple.

Please, stand with me and sign this petition to get some new laws in place that will hopefully prevent the tragedies that our poor animals are suffering for mans indifference to this problem. I think it would be much easier for us to depend on prevention than to depend on the heartless people like Jeff Bass of the Robeson County Animal Shelter to clean up the mess.

The eyes of the Country are watching us now. Lets show them that the people of North Carolina and Everywhere do care about our animals and understand they have feelings, emotions and pain, and are viable creatures that need to be cared for not tortured and destroyed.

It has been brought to my attention there could be breeder issues. The solution for that would be for anyone wanting to breed an animal will have to get a license to do so.

You may also want to sign the petitions to rid North Carolina of the inhumane  services provided by Jeff Bass and his employees. Regardless of whether or not they practice hearsticking there anymore, anyone who has such obvious indifference in torturing animals (as is witnessed in the above video) will never stop until they are removed from the position that enables them to do so. Regardless of the methods, their torture and neglect will find a way. You will find them at these two links. Thank you

Jeff Bass belongs in prison found here http://www.change.org/petitions/view/jeff_bass_belongs_in_prison

Remove Jeff Bass and "Crew" from Robeson County North Carolina here http://www.change.org/petitions/view/remove_jeff_bass_crew_from_robeson_county_animal_shelter_in_north_carolina

If you are interested in seeing what indifference to this problem looks like you can  see it in the above video. I must warn you it is VERY GRAPHIC and DISTURBING

My Philosophy is as long as our law makers and people in authority do not show their own concern and compassion for animals, neither will our children. Everything begins with examples.....

Spay and Neuter laws

Greetings,

Dear Elected Officials,

I wish to address the issue of Spay and Neuter laws, or the lack thereof. The state of North Carolina is at a cross roads. We can continue to ignore and be indifferent to the problem of unwanted animals or we can begin to be known as a humane solution concerning the welfare of domestic animals. It is a fact that how we treat animals is actually how we treat humans and all living beings.

Every year, indeed every day, thousands upon thousands of unwanted animals are tortured and inhumanely disposed of due to lack of laws governing Spaying and Neutering. These animals are being starved to death, beat, smashed, stabbed, heart stuck, gassed, shot and strangled to death among other horrible things while they are fully awake and conscious. THIS MUST STOP NOW. It could be your pet that accidentally got loose or ran away as easy as it can be an unwanted animal. The whole world is watching what we do in light of the "Heartsticking in Robeson County video" that was aired earlier this year on youtube.

We have a chance to set the record straight about our wonderful state. We can set an example for all to follow regarding the welfare of domestic animals. Please, I implore all of you to adopt some serious laws regarding spay and neutering. Harsh consequences to the people who do not follow them. This torture must end. It is not only the animals who are suffering, but animal lovers like myself are too. More than some may know.

We need to practice prevention in order to control the horror. An once of prevention has always been worth a pound of cure. All of the blame of this horror can not be placed on the people and facilities that are left to deal with this problem. It is EVERYONE'S responsibility to stop this madness.

Please, do not delay in your quest to do the right thing regarding this matter. Lives are at stake. Our hearts and reputation are at stake too. Let us become known as the state that cares. And hopefully our example will be continued through out the entire United States and the World.

To make sure legitimate breeding can continue, a Breeding License should be required.

My Philosophy is as long as our law makers and people in authority do not show their own concern and compassion for animals, neither will our children. Everything begins with examples.....

Optimistically and Respectfully,

Cynthia Woodcock
