Where should we draw the line on the climate bill?
Dear Friend,
We are at a crucial moment in the fight for our climate.
On June 26th, the House narrowly passed historic legislation intended to address global warming. As usually happens in Congress, the original bill was significantly weakened in order to get votes from representatives who had particular concerns about coal, utilities, farming, ethanol and other matters.
Now the fight moves to the Senate where there is extreme pressure to weaken the legislation even more despite the best efforts of environmental groups. As we decide what position to take on the legislation, it would be very helpful to know what provisions are most important to you.
Will you help us decide where to draw the line on the climate bill?
We'll take your thoughts into consideration as we decide where to weigh in, and you can be sure we'll ask for your help again as the bill moves forward. There are big fights ahead in the climate debate, and we look forward to stepping up to them with you.
Please click here to take a survey — it's just five questions — about what you think are the most important provisions in the climate bill.
Thank you for working to build a better world.
