Currently, American school teachers and administrators are sanctioned to beat American school children with a wooden board on their buttocks as a form of punishment in 20 US states and its territories--a little known fact in America.

Primary targets are minorities, disabled and low-income students. These beatings occur during school hours within less than 22 seconds of each other in US paddling states when combining reported and nonreported statistics.

If you choose to sign our petition, please tell others to do the same.

Thank you for supporting safe American schools for ALL of our children.

“We The People” SUPPORT NY Rep. McCarthy’s Bill For Banning American School Corporal Punishment

Dear US Congressional Leader,

Addendum July 23, 2010

On June 29, 2010 NY Rep. Carolyn McCarthy introduced a bill to Congress entitled, “Ending Corporal Punishment in Schools Act," HR 5628. Democrat Congressional leaders have supported the bill. Republican Congressional leaders have remained unsupportive as a whole. Thus, American school children are being left in unsafe conditions, as a bill cannot become law without the support of at least one Republican. By “holding out,” Republicans can cause this bill--intended for the good of American school children--to die.

American school children will be in more danger than ever due to the display of indifference for their safety and well-being, by US law-makers.

This addendum serves to petition President Barack Obama to place an immediate moratorium on all “school corporal punishment” throughout the US and its territories in public, private and charter schools as Chief Executive of Law.

Petition June 15, 2010
"We The People" petition US Congressional Leaders to support NY Rep. Carolyn McCarthy's upcoming American School Corporal Punishment bill, entitled, “Ending Corporal Punishment in Schools Act," HR 5628. Upon becoming a law, the use of “school corporal punishment,” a practice proven harmful by science, will be prohibited in public, private and charter schools throughout the US and its territories.

Below are three of the most recent professional documents on the issue of American school abuse:

· Government Accountability Office report: Selected Cases of Death and Abuse at Public and Private Schools and Treatment Centers: http://www.thehittingstopshere.com/docs/GOA_2009.pdf

· UC Davis Law Review: STATE ACTORS BEATING CHILDREN--A CALL FOR JUDICIAL RELIEF: http://www.thehittingstopshere.com/docs/State%20Actors%20UC%20Dav.pdf

Supporting Rep. McCarthy’s bill will improve the safety and academic conditions of schools throughout the US and its territories and will be a true first step in “leaving no child behind.”

Thank you for your responsible decision.
