Allow Their Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual Students To express theirselves
The Issue
Hello, My name is Kayla. I currently attened a Vidor ISD school. Me and most my friends are gay, lesbian, or bisexual. We mainly get bullied and when we go ask the counselor for help she tells us to hide it. Not to express it. She always tells us to hide it from everyone. The bullying has still countinued and I would really like to change this so next year, and until we graduate, so we don't be bullied anymore.
The Vidor ISD doesn't allow the LGBT(Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders) community of Vidor, Texas, BESIDES the straight students, to express their sexuality. I presently attend one of these schools and I have gotten many calls home from the principle stating that it's a religious problem and they cannot allow it. We have our rights, too, so why can we not express them? It's normal for us to want to express it, though they don't allow us to. Not like kissing or any PDA, but wearing shirts that have a rainbow and/or say "Gay Pride" (or something similar), and a bracelet. Shouldn't we be able to, too?
