The legal guardians of Eden, a baby in Kenya who was abandoned in a hospital where Ben and Meghan worked in 2006, were given permission by the Kenyan government to bring their baby to the U.S. for Christmas and the birth of her new sibling while an adoption is in process. However, the U.S. government wouldn’t issue Eden the travel visa, even though it had done so in the past. Ben was forced to stay with Eden while Meghan went home to Indiana to give birth during hospital strikes in Kenya.
Eden’s grandfather started a petition targeting US Citizenship and Immigration Services and after more than 35,000 signatures and comments of support, Tweets from Miami Dolphins player Brian Hartline and Boston Celtics rookie JaJuan Jackson, local press in TV and print, and support from Rep. Todd Rokita, Eden has been issued humanitarian parole and the family will be reunited for the holidays.
Thursday evening (December 22) we learned that USCIS has agreed to grant Eden the request for Humanitarian Parole! Arrangements are underway for Eden and her adoptive dad Ben, to pack up in Kenya and start heading back to the US. Although they won't be able to be home in time for Christmas, we expect that they will be back soon.
Baby Eden Gets Humanitarian Parole from USCIS!
Greetings,
I just signed the following petition addressed to: US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS).

USCIS was under a lot of pressure to act quickly on our request to reunite Eden with her the rest of her family. In less than 10 days the US processed the request and gave a favorable response. This is a remarkable result. Thank you for all the support and thank you USCIS for listening!
Sincerely,
