A House Resolution (H.Res 569) endorsing citizen diplomacy and advocating that the President hold a national summit has now been introduced to the House and has been sent to the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. It is the most specific and all encompassing resolution in support of citizen diplomacy that we have seen over the last several years.
Now, we urgently need your important help in order to continue moving this National Initiative for Citizen Diplomacy forward. Please send a letter to your Representative, urging him or her to sign on to this resolution!

Support H.Res. 569: Supporting Citizen Diplomacy
Dear Representative
As your constituent and an advocate of Citizen Diplomacy, I am writing today to ask for your help. I am asking you to join me in supporting a bi-partisan effort to promote International understanding and encourage a Presidential Summit on Global Citizen Diplomacy.
As a supporter of Citizen Diplomacy, I know that citizen –to – citizen activities build the strongest bonds and create the greatest change. Indeed, from the American Revolution to current events in Iran, we are surrounded by examples of the power of individual citizens.
I am asking you to co-sponsor the attached House Resolution 569, authored by Rep. James Moran (D-VA) and Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC), which will recognize the important work of private American citizens groups who work as volunteers to promote international understanding around the world.
This resolution calls attention to the positive impact of citizen diplomacy and encourages Americans who can to volunteer in international citizen-to-citizen activities. It encourages the President to convene a Summit on Global Citizen Diplomacy to commend the activities of citizen diplomacy organizations and citizen ambassadors. President Eisenhower convened such a summit to inspire people in the U.S. to participate in both national and international service, and we believe this would be a wonderful way to encourage the full range of civic, faith and community groups engaged in these worthy efforts.
To co-sponsor the attached H.Res., please contact Rep. Moran’s office at or 5-3979 or Rep. Myrick’s office at 5-1976.
Current Co-sponsors include Moran, Myrick, Latham, DeLauro, Mitchell, Loebsack, Braley. Please join them as an original co-sponsor of this important resolution.
Thank you, in advance, for your support and for all you do for your District.
Sincerely,
[Your name]
