** OBAMA SIGNED THE BILL MONDAY, 5/24 AT 5PM EST! INVISIBLE CHILDREN WAS ON HAND AT THE SIGNING CEREMONY AND IS CONFIDENT THE PRESIDENT WILL TAKE A STRONG STAND AGAINST KONY AND THE LRA AND WORK TO END THE WAR AND FREE THE CHILDREN. THANK YOU FOR LENDING YOUR VOICES TO INVISIBLE CHILDREN'S 7-YEAR CAMPAIGN! THERE IS MORE TO BE DONE. CHECK THEM OUT AT WWW.INVISIBLECHILDREN.COM. **

Joseph Kony, leader of the rebel LRA uses abducted children to fight his war in Northern Uganda, the longest running war in Africa. According to Invisible Children, a leader in the movement to stop Kony and the LRA, 90% of the rebel army is comprised of children and Northern Ugandan youth of today have never lived a day without war on their doorstep. An entire generation of people has never known peace. But through campaigns like Displace Me, marches, petitions, films, and camping out on the doorstep of the U.S. government, peace is within reach.

On May 13th, 2010, thanks to Invisible Children and thousands of other activists, advocates, and abolitionists worldwide, the LRA Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act passed through Congress and now sits on President Obama's desk. If signed into law, the bill would require President Obama to create and implement an interagency strategy to prevent further LRA violence and would include a plan to capture LRA leaders, encourage rebel commanders to turn themselves in, demobilize child soldiers, and protect civilians. It will also obligate the U.S. to assist in recovery and reconciliation efforts, including $10 million for immediate assistance for families currently fleeing war-torn areas and another $30 million for continued support to address the root causes of the war.

Join Invisible Children in urging the President to make a personal and public statement condemning the LRA and committing to end its violence. The bill needs to be signed within 10 days after passing through Congress, so there is not much time left. Lend your voice to this historic movement by signing this petition, which goes straight to the White House. We have President Obama's ear. Now use your voice to speak for the thousands of silent children enslaved in Africa's longest running war!

In Addition to Signing Bill S. 1067, Please Publicly Commit to End LRA Violence

Greetings,

Mr. President, I am so excited and hopeful with this legislation reaching your office! Ending the war in Northern Uganda, bringing justice to its people, and freeing the LRA's thousands of child soldiers from a life of horror and abuse is very important to me and my entire generation. In addition to signing bill S. 1067 into law, I would like to request that you make a public, personal statement of commitment to help end the LRA violence. Please do not ignore the voice of an entire generation working to bring peace to our peers in Uganda who have not yet known a day without war in their lifetime.

Thank you and best regards,
